EASE Programs and Services

Do you have a business idea?
Do you need help getting started?
Self-employment is a viable option.

Restructuring, outsourcing, and “offshoring” are terms we see too often in today’s economy and society. This is turning more and more people to the idea of working for themselves as a solution to the challenges of today’s workplace.

Self-employment is becoming the choice of many Canadians and new immigrants. Small business is creating most new jobs in Canada and, some say, is the real future of our economy.

Results from the 2004 Program Survey show that 99% of those who complete the program are still in business, with combined sales of more than $5 million per annum.

Our Programs

The Langara College (EASE) Self-Employment Program is funded by the government of Canada and operated by Langara College in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Assistance Society of Eastvan (EASE). The program is designed to assist people on Employment Insurance (EI) (or those whose EI benefits have run out) to successfully start their own businesses.

  • The program is delivered in two phases
  • Allows participants to collect 48 weeks of income support from the government;
  • Provides workshops and seminars on developing business plans and business management;
  • Helps build confidence and reduce the anxiety of starting a new business through counselling and support services.
