BC Sailing would like to let all our member schools/clubs and class associations about the opportunities for all our members to raise money for projects, including capital projects through the National Sports Trust Fund and BC Sailing.  Many clubs have already well established projects, some are raising money for boats to be used by their learn to programs, others to build new docks or outstations, while others might be raising money for their athletes.  This is a wonderful opportunity for all your members to raise money for a club or school project and receiving a tax receipt for their gift.
The National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF) is a philanthropic gift-giving program established through the Canadian Council of Provincial and Territorial Sport Federations (CCPTSF) for the development of amateur sport on a national level.

How does it work and how can you get involved?
Every member school or club can have one or more projects on the go through the National Sports Trust Fund.  For example, if a club wants to raise money to replace boats being used in their Learn To Programs, an application form is filled out and emailed to BC Sailing.  BC Sailing forwards this to NSTF and a project number is given.  When members and others donate money, they put this project number on their donation form.  BC Sailing is copied on all the donations.  A tax receipt is mailed from the NSTF to the donor.
Once a month, BC Sailing can mail the school or club the funds received for the project.

Donor Services & Rights: We will work with each donor to ensure that spirit and intent of their gift is honoured. To ensure that donors and potential donors can have full confidence in the National Sport Trust Fund, and in respect for the cause that we support together, the National Sport Trust Fund has adopted and implemented the Association of Fundraising Professional’s Donor Bill of Rights.
