S感嫂愛徬 START is the CYA's accredited Canadian Coast Guard Boating Safety Course Standard. Spark START consists of three parts; a safe boating course, a boating safety exam and a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) issued by the CYA.

Who Needs a Pleasure Craft Operator Card?

After September 15, 1999, all operators of power driven pleasure craft who were under 16 years of age on April 1st 1999.

After September 15, 2002, all operators of power driven pleasure craft less than 4 meters (13.12').

After September 15, 2009, all operators of power driven pleasure craft of any size.

How do I obtain a S感嫂愛徬 START Pleasure Craft Operator Card?

 There are three methods to obtain the card:

• Obtain a mark of 75% or better on a S感嫂愛徬 START exam taken at the completion of a CYA S感嫂愛徬 START safe boating course.
• Obtain a mark of 75% or better on a S感嫂愛徬 START exam taken after home study.
• Registration of the completion of a CYA safe boating course that was completed prior to April 1, 1999. (All CYA Learn to Cruise, Learn to Powerboat and Learn to Sail (above White Sail) meet the requirements.)

Where do I find S感嫂愛徬 START?

S感嫂愛徬 START Courses will be offered both separately and in conjunction with CYA Learn to Cruise, Learn to Powerboat and Learn to Sail courses offered by CYA Schools and Clubs. 

Exams may be challenged at S感嫂愛徬 START clubs and schools.

Registration of previous safe boating courses may be done at Clubs and Schools delivering the S感嫂愛徬 START program or at the offices of BC Sailing with appropriate proof of course completion.

What does S感嫂愛徬 START Cost?

The price of S感嫂愛徬 START safe boating courses are set by the schools, clubs and instructors who offer the course.  The price will often be determined by how the course is packaged with other CYA courses.

• Manual  $9.95 
• Exam    $9.95
• Registration   $9.95
