Competition - ORC Club

BC Sailing administers the ORC Club system in BC for the sailors of British Colunbia.  ORC Club is a measurement-based rating system which uses a sophisticated Velocity Prediction Program (VPP).  A major consideration is providing reasonably accurate ratings for diverse fleets of boats sailing in various wind conditions and common course configurations.  For more information on ORC Club, please refer to the Overview, Sample Certificate, Measurement, Rules and FAQ's using the links to the left.

British Columbia sailors who wish to apply for an ORC Club rating can complete the two required steps:
1.  Fill out and submit the online ORC Club application form (see link to left)
2.  Print a completed copy of your online application form and either:
     a) fax it to BC Sailing at 604-333-3626 with a cover sheet providing your Visa or MasterCard payment instructions, or
     b) mail it with a cheque for CA$100.00, payable to BC Sailing, #223-3820 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC, V7B 0A2

For boats that are renewing or have changes to make to their ORC Club Certificate:
1.  The owner will need to contact BC Sailing that they are renewing and list the changes if they have any.
2.  BC Sailing will forward the information to the local ORC committee to use the IMS Editor program to do the renewal/changes.
3.  The local ORC committee will send renewal/changes to ORC to renew or make the changes to an existing ORC certificate.
4.  ORC will the send the new certificate to the local ORC committee for verification prior to forwarding to BC Sailing.
5.  BC Sailing will then contact the owner to secure payment before the certificate is released.

If your boat does not already have one, an Offshore Sail Number can be obtained from BC Sailing.  Please complete the application form (see link to the left) and return it to BC Sailing.

This list is updated periodically.  Users of this list should be aware that boat owners change their equipment and new boats come in to the system.  It should be noted that all current ORC Club BC boats have been provided a rating certificate which indicates the boats rating, the effective date of the certificate and the expiry date of the certificate.  Race organizers are encouraged to require all boats which participate in their events to submit a current certificate which shows the current rating for that boat.
