Racing Development - BC Games
Every second year, the BC Summer Games takes place. This event is for athletes of many sports in BC, and sailors that participate in this event will not only meet sailors from other areas of the province, but will meet athletes from other sports as well. A total of 64 sailors from all 8 zones will be competing at the 2006 Games. The next BC Games will be in Kamloops from July 27 to 30, 2006. The sailing venue will be Nicola Lake, near Merritt. The following classes will be competing:
Sailors who wish to participate must qualify in their zones. Zones are:
Zone 1 - Kootenays
Zone 2 - Thompson-Okanagan
Zone 3 - Fraser Valley
Zone 4 - Fraser River-Delta
Zone 5 - Vancouver-Squamish
Zone 6 - Vancouver Island-Central Coast
Zone 7 - North West
Zone 8 - Cariboo-North East
Qualifying regattas will be determined in January of 2006.
An athlete can only attend the BC Summer Games once, with the exception of the Optimist where sailors can compete once in the Optimist then once more in another class.
